Why You Should Take Cold Showers Every Day

I know, I know.

You love taking hot showers.

It feels good. It’s relaxing. It washes away the stress.

And, after a long day full of responsibilities, it can be just the right thing that turns your day around and makes it a whole lot better.

I get it.

I feel the same way.

But you want to know something interesting? The only benefit of taking a hot shower is that it feels good. Other than that, hot showers do nothing for you.

This is why I’ve completely stopped taking hot showers and I’ve started taking cold showers instead.

And you know what? It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

There are a number of modern-day studies that suggest taking cold showers are beneficial for your health.

Here are 8 scientific reasons why I take cold showers and why you should too:

1) Stimulates Weight Loss

Cold showers are great if you want to lose weight. This is because cold showers force your body to activate the body’s brown fat. Brown fat is used to insulate your body and keep your body warm. Therefore, when the body feels cold, the brown fat goes into overdrive, burning 15 times faster than it would otherwise. This helps stimulate weight loss.

2) Leads To Healthier Skin

Taking cold showers can actually lead to healthier skin. According to wellness expert Dr. Jacqueline Schaffer, MD, cold water tightens your pores, which prevents them from getting clogged with dirt. This gives your skin a healthier glow. Additionally, cold water cleans your skin while keeping your skin’s natural oils. Conversely, hot water strips away your skin of their natural oils, leaving them dry, which is bad for existing skin conditions like eczema or acne.

3) Increases Alertness
